Dog fighting.
I was amazed to discover, when researching the DDA, that actual dog fighting was still happening in this country. Two types of it, the savage bloodthirsty pit type fighting, that has been outlawed along with (many years later) the Pit bull dog, which became one of the banned dog in 1991, so every dog who was alive then, would have died so there shouldn’t be any Pitbulls left, but there are, and online the argument rages with regard to owners or dogs, and which is to blame for them being vicious.
Pit bulls are imported from foreign countries into Southern Ireland, (they are not banned there) and then whisked across the border into Northern Ireland, then eventually to England. Even though they are not banned in Southern Ireland, the breed is given a new name. They could be imported as Boxer Crosses or whatever they might look like. There is a bit of a question mark over the so called Irish Staffordshire terrier, which looks like a Staffie, only bigger, not unlike a Pitbull actually.
Lots of Americans are very passionate about their American Pitballs, very! Equally there is extreme cruelty to the breed and I mean extreme, it is very hard to look at some of the end results of this deliberate cruelty. And I have to say these poor abused dogs still have love in their eyes, even after being burned on barbeques, dragged behind cars, having large holes gouged in them for someone’s amusement, having acid thrown over them, not to mention being starved and beaten. During the best of the times for these ‘fighting dogs’ they wear chains as heavy as themselves around their necks, run on treadmills and hang from tyres etc for hours, and of course get beaten to make them aggressive.
Losers are ‘Curs’ and the dogmen, as these cruel men are called, hate them . They will kick them, dump them in plastic bags in ditches, toss them into rubbish bins, starve them to death, or for a bit more fun they will electrocute them. It makes me feel desperate to do something, and angry with myself, because I am aware of it, yet cannot do anything. Better people than me are already trying to work miracles.
